The 35th of the seventy-two, a marquis. A strong fighter. In the language of this path, Marchosias is a shadow pole — worked only with its angel, Chavakhiah.

What the grimoires say

In the 1904 Goetia, Marchosias is a Marquis governing 30 legions. A strong fighter; gives true answers; faithful to the operator.

A Great Marquis who first shows as a wolf with a griffin's wings and a serpent's tail, vomiting fire, then takes human shape on command. A strong fighter, formerly of the angelic Order of Dominations, who hopes to return to the Seventh Throne.

“The Thirty-fifth Spirit is Marchosias. He is a Great and Mighty Marquis. At first he appeareth in the Form of a Wolf having Gryphon's Wings, and a Serpent's Tail, and Vomiting Fire out of his mouth. But after a time, at the command of the Exorcist, he putteth on the Shape of a Man. He is a strong Fighter. He was of the Order of Dominations. The shadow it carries

Stripped to the bone, Marchosias's traditional office turns on strength, courage and reliable perseverance under pressure. Read plainly, that is a real human force; in the language of this path its raw, unowned form is a shadow pole. Its shadow is what that force does when it runs you from the dark; its gold is the same force — seen, owned, governed.

You never reach for it alone. Its light pole is the angel Chavakhiah; met together, behind protection, Marchosias becomes a disowned part of yourself approached while the light is already in the room.

A word of honesty first: almost none of the table below is from the old grimoires. The rank, legions, direction and office are traditional; the planet, day, colour, tarot, incense and the Enn are modern attributions (mostly 20th–21st-century Demonolatry and correspondence compilations), and the sources openly disagree. Use them as a working frame, not as law.

Making a connection

Gathered from what practitioners report, put plainly — a starting point, not a rule:

Sit with the seal above as the first meeting-place: trace it, hold it in the mind’s eye, and let impressions arrive without grabbing at them.
Set a gentle frame. Keep it simple — a purple candle, a monday, a little incense, a moment of quiet. If you work the Demonolatry current, chant the Enn softly — more like settling than commanding.
Bring the real theme. Practitioners associate Marchosias with a loyal 'fighter' presence — steadfast backing in a struggle, straight, true answers once trust is established. Name what you actually want, and ask — don’t demand.
Journal before and after, and treat everything as your own experience, not fixed doctrine.

Never alone — the angel first. This is a shadow pole, and the whole discipline of this path is that you never reach for one by itself.
